Geboren 1959. Er gehört zu den international bekanntesten Schweizer Dokumentarfilmschaffenden. WAR PHOTOGRAPHER (2001) wurde bei der 74. Oscar-Verleihung für den besten Dokumentarfilm nominiert. THE GIANT BUDDHAS (2005), SPACE TOURISTS (2009), und GENESIS 2.0 (2018) liefen im Wettbewerb des Sundance Film Festivals, wo er 2010 mit dem World Cinema Directing Award ausgezeichnet wurde. Seine Filme gelten als humanistisch und universell, geprägt von subtiler und beharrlicher Ausdruckskraft.
