25 Swiss animation films at “Monstra” Festival in Lisbon

10.03.2010

The “Monstra” Animated Film Festival in Lisbon will celebrate its 10th anniversary from March 11-21, 2010. While six Swiss animation films and co-productions have been selected for the international competition, four other short animation films will be screened in the student short film competition. In addition, ten works will be featured in a special evening programme devoted to Swiss animation filmmaking. Together with the films screened in other sections, the festival in Portugal is presenting a total of 25 short films from Switzerland.
The films screened in the international competition include: “Valise” by Isabelle Favez; “Amourette” by Maja Gehrig; “Optical Percussion” by Gerd Gockell; “Histoire d'eau” by Daniel Suter; as well as “Allons-y! Alonzo!” by Camille Moulin-Dupré and “Le petit dragon” by Bruno Collet – two co-productions from Nadasdy Film, Geneva.

Last year the festival presented a retrospective showcasing over 60 Swiss animation film productions. In conjunction with its 10th edition, the “Monstra” Festival continues to demonstrate its appreciation for Swiss filmmaking in this genre. A carte blanche has been granted to all guest countries from the previous editions. The special Swiss evening featuring ten current animation films will be held on March 19. SWISS FILMS, the film promotion agency, is a partner of this event.
