Swiss short film in competition at Cork (Ireland)
10.10.2007
The Cork Film Festival, taking place for the 52nd time from October 14 – 21, 2007, has selected the film “Beckenrand/Poolside” to participate in the international short film competition. It was co-produced by the Academy of Media Arts Cologne and directed by Basel resident Michael Koch. 59 entries from 37 countries are in the running for the award for Best Short Film.
Based on this selection, “Beckenrand”, which portrays the tense relationship between a group of teenagers and a pool attendant, will be eligible for the Priz UIP for Best European Short Film. The film’s director, Michael Koch, was represented at Cork last year with his film, “Wir sind dir treu.”
A second Swiss short film, “Chyenne” by Alexander Meier, will be screened as part of the Carte Blance program at the “Signes de Nuit” festival in Paris.
The Cork Film Festival, which counts as one of the oldest film festivals in Europe, is Ireland’s the biggest film event.
