NEW PARTNERSHIPS FOR SWISS FILMMAKING

17.04.2026

In the second round of the Campaign Booster, four new Swiss films have been selected. An external jury of experts decided which theatrical releases will receive support within Switzerland.

Since 2025, SWISS FILMS has been mandated by the Federal Office of Culture (FOC) as part of the pilot project “Domestic Promotion” to strengthen the visibility of Swiss film within Switzerland. In the same year, SWISS FILMS introduced the Campaign Booster as a new marketing initiative.

In February 2026, the Campaign Booster was launched for the second time. Based on insights gained from the first round in 2025, the call was further developed: thanks to several partnerships initiated by SWISS FILMS with leading media companies and advertising marketers, the selected Booster projects benefit from multiplied media and advertising reach. These new partnerships are intended to benefit not only the Campaign Booster films, but Swiss filmmaking as a whole.

Four films selected

For the first time, an external jury was responsible for the selection. From the submitted dossiers, four films were chosen to receive targeted media support for their theatrical release.

The jury consisted of Barbie Heusinger (international film expert), Giada Peter (Swiss film marketing expert), and Christophe Lützelschwab (Swiss film expert). The selected films cover a range of genres, target audiences and language regions:

PLITSCH PLATSCH FOREVER!

  • Fiction film, directed by Natascha Beller, produced by Catpics, Zurich
  • Distribution: DCM Film Distribution Switzerland
  • Theatrical release: German-speaking Switzerland, April 16, 2026

11-year-old Pola wants to save the Plitsch Patsch swimming pool from closing so that her best friend can return. Her friend’s parents, who ran the café, moved away when the pool shut down.

This contemporary family and children’s film convinced the jury with its strong cultural anchoring, contributing to the development of a “future audience” and showing high regional audience potential. The Booster will be used for tailored, child-friendly activation strategies.

EN TERRAIN NEUTRE

  • Documentary, directed by Stéphane Goël, produced by Association Climage, Lausanne
  • Distribution: Agora Films Distribution
  • Theatrical release: French-speaking Switzerland, April 29, 2026; German-speaking Switzerland, June 4, 2026

This humorous documentary addresses the highly topical issue of Swiss neutrality. But what does it actually mean to be neutral? To find out, the two filmmakers set off on a road trip, meeting numerous figures from politics, the military, business, and academia.

The jury highlighted the film’s strong socio-political relevance, its accessible approach, and its well-founded target audience strategy.

BECAÀRIA

  • Fiction film, directed by Erik Bernasconi, produced by Cinédokké, Savosa
  • Distribution: Cineworx Distribution
  • Theatrical release: German-speaking Switzerland, August 26, 2026; French-speaking Switzerland, September 2, 2026; Italian-speaking Switzerland, September 16, 2026

1977, in a village in Ticino: 16-year-old Mario struggles with his father’s authority and the expectations of school. For the summer, he is sent to work in the mountains. Between nature, responsibility, and new encounters, Mario discovers sensuality, artistic freedom, and his own voice.

The jury was convinced by the well-developed nationwide strategy positioning the film as a summer feel-good movie, its strong presence across all language regions, and its integration of cultural diversity.

FRANK & LOUIS

  • Fiction film, directed by Petra Volpe, produced by Zodiac Pictures Ltd, Zurich
  • Distribution: Filmcoopi
  • Theatrical release: late summer / early autumn 2026

Frank, who is serving a life sentence, takes on the task of caring for an elderly fellow inmate suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. What begins as a self-serving attempt to improve his chances of early release develops into a deep bond with Louis.

The English-language debut by acclaimed Swiss director Petra Volpe (LATE SHIFT) celebrated its world premiere at the renowned Sundance Film Festival. The combination of international recognition and a distinctly Swiss perspective provides an ideal basis for reaching a broad audience across all language regions.

Next round in August 2026

SWISS FILMS will share the learnings key takeaways from the 2025 Campaign Booster with the industry at the Locarno Film Festival 2026. August will also see the launch of the next call for applications for the Campaign Booster 2026 (August 8–23, 2026).
