Petra Volpe
Screenwriter, Director, Creator
Born in 1970 in Suhr, Switzerland. Joint Swiss and Italian citizenship. 1992-94 Art student in Zurich. 1994-95 Lives in New York. 1995-97 AVID editor in Zurich. 1997-2001 Studies drama and screenwriting at HFF (Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen) Konrad Wolf in Potsdam. Since 2001 works as an independent screenwriter and director. 2017 Swiss Film Award “Best Screenplay” to her film THE DIVINE ORDER. She adapted the screenplay for Alain Gsponer’s box office hit HEIDI (2015), and made the script for the successful SRF series FRIEDEN. In addition to her Swiss projects, she works as a writer and director in the USA for Fox Searchlight and Disney, among others. She is currently working with the two US acting stars Laurence Fishburne and Clifton Collins Jr. on the prison drama FRANK & LOUIS. Petra Volpe lives and works in Berlin and New York.
