Swiss short film awarded at Clermont-Ferrand festival

The short film “Wir sind dir treu” (“We are the faithful”) by 23-year-old Basel director Michael Koch won the Canal+ award at the 28th edition of the International Short Film Festival Clermont-Ferrand, which ended on Saturday, February 4th. The film took part in the “Labo” competition, a new festival section dedicated to innovative digital technologies. The prize is bestowed by the French television channel Canal+ and includes the purchase of the film’s broadcast rights.
The nine-minute documentary film depicts the behavior of fans of the Fussball Club Basel before and after the game. In his portrayal, the director exclusively focuses on one overly passionate character. “Wir sind Dir treu” won the prize for Best Swiss Film at the 2005 International Short Film Festival Winterthur and will be part of the 2006 Short Film Nights program which starts its tour in Zurich on March 31.
Michael Koch was the main actor in the movie “Ready, Steady, Charlie!” and received a nomination for the 2004 Berlin Shooting Star event. As a student at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, “Wir sind dir treu” is his first work as a director.
