At the 26th Filmfest München, taking place from June 20-28, 2008 in the Bavarian provincial capitol of Munich and constitutes the second largest film festival in Germany after the Berlinale, four Swiss films will be screened in the International Program: “Home” by Ursula Meier, “Der Freund” by Micha Lewinsky, “Giorni e nuvole” by Silvio Soldini and “L´autre moitié” by Rolando Colla. The International Program has as its motto: War, Love, God and Madness.
“Home” with Isabelle Huppert and Olivier Gourmet as the leading characters – tells the story about a family peacefully living in a solitary house with a little garden in a remote landscape until one fine day a highway breaks in upon their family life. This first cinema fiction film by Swiss director Ursula Meier (Box Productions, Lausanne), a coproduction with Belgium and France, celebrated its world premiere as a special screening of the Semaine Internationale de la critique and had been sold straight away to six countries.

The fiction film “Der Freund” by Micha Lewinsky (produced by Langfilm, Freienstein), twofoldly awarded with the Swiss Film Prize 2008 and the fiction film “Giorni e nuvole” by Silvio Soldini (coproduced by Amka Film, Savosa) honoured with two of the “David de Donatello” Prizes, revolve around love, loss and appreciation. “L´autre moitié” by Rolando Colla (produced by Peacock Film, Zurich) is about the difficult convergence of two bothers in a climate of mistrust and paranoia. All three fiction films were awarded for the excellent performance of their leading characters.

The short animation films “Tôt ou tard” by Jadwiga Kowalska and “Animatou” by a five-member authors´ collective, headed by Claude Luyet, will be screened at the Children´s Filmfest.
