A spotlight on Switzerland’s short filmmaking
22.01.2026
The Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival (January 30 – February 7, 2026) is the world’s leading festival dedicated to short filmmaking. The seven Swiss films selected for the festival programme provide multifaceted insight into the diversity of Switzerland’s short filmmaking, with SWISS FILMS representing it at the film market (February 2-5, 2026).
Screened in the International Competition will be Lea Favre’s multi-award-winning animation film QUI PART À LA CHASSE and Lasse Linder’s short documentary film AIR HORSE ONE about the luxurious life of a celebrated racehorse, honoured with the Zurich Film Awards for Best Short Film.
Four Swiss animation films have been selected for the Young Audience Programme: READING BETWEEN THE LINES by Jochen Rall; OSTRICH by Marie Kenov; EX-TRACT by Marcel Barelli; and ASTRAL by Judith Ordonneau.
Felipe Casanova’s experimental documentary O RIO DE JANEIRO CONTINUA LINDO will be screened in the Lab Competition, which features high-risk, original works. The HSLU animation film PIPES by Jessica Meier, Sujanth Ravichandran and Kilian Feusi will be screened in the Trigger Warning programme of the Extras section.
Director Corina Schwingruber Ilić is a member of the international jury. Her film BEEN THERE (2023) will be among the works screened as part of the opening programme and her film ALL INCLUSIVE (2018) will be screened in the festival’s retrospective programme with holidays as this year’s theme in focus.
SWISS FILMS will be present with a stand at the film market, representing Switzerland’s current short film production and hosting a networking event at Cocktail Suisse, in partnership with the film schools ECAL and HEAD as well as the Base-Court Association and the Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur.
The curated SWISS FILMS Line-up Shorts 2026-1 provides an overview of the latest short films from Switzerland.
