Six Swiss film productions and coproductions will be screened at the 35th Montreal World Film Festival (August 18-28, 2011). Georges Schwizgebel’s animation film “Romance,” which celebrated its premiere on the Piazza Grande in Locarno, will be screened in the short film section of the World Competition. Francine Brücher, staff member at SWISS FILMS, is a member of the jury for the First Films World Competition.
Two Swiss feature films coproduced in Switzerland - “Golakani Kirkuk” (“I fiori di Kirkuk”) by Iranian-born director Fariborz Kamkari (T&C Film, Zurich) and “La scuola è finita” by Italian director Valerio Jalongo (Amka Films Productions, Savosa) - will be presented in the “Focus on World Cinema” section, as well as the documentary animation film “La mort est dans le champ” by Patrick Chappatte and Marco Dellamula and the short film “Down This Road” by Vinz Feller. The documentation “Marcel Ophüls et Jean-Luc Godard, la rencontre de St-Gervais” by Frédéric Choffat and Vincent Lowy rounds off the Swiss presence at the largest film festival in the capital of Quebec.
