Swiss film appearance in neighboring France
12.02.2007
As part of the «La Belle Voisine» program, organized by the Swiss cultural foundation «Pro Helvetia» in cooperation with the Rhone-Alps region, SWISS FILMS presents a selection of 15 contemporary Swiss film productions. Initially, the films will be shown at the Festival International du Premier Film in Annonay from February 2 – 12, in Villeurbanne from February 19 – 25, in St. Etienne from February 28 – March 13, and finally in Annemass from March 14 – 30, 2007.
The ten films presented in these four cities are mainly comprised of works by new filmmaking talents. The program allows for neighboring France to discover young directors from the French part of Switzerland, among them Laurent Nègre («Fragile»), Lionel Baier («Comme des voleurs – A l’est»), or Frédéric Choffat («Real Life Is Elsewhere»), as well as their Swiss-German colleagues Michael Steiner («Grounding», «Rascals On The Road»), and Andrea Staka («Das Fraulein»).
In each city, a short film program introducing directing talents «of tomorrow» will be featured, including Michael Koch («Poolside»), Frédéric Mermoud («Rachel», «Le créneau»), Tania Zambrano-Ovalle («La vérité vraie»), and Milagros Mumenthaler («Amancay»).
