Nine Swiss short films are participating in the festival program at the 22nd International Short Film Festival Hamburg (May 31 – June 5, 2006). In the international competition, the documentary-like short film “Chasseur/Hunter” by Alexandre Charlet (Production: ECAL, Lausanne) will be shown, while in the “No Budget Competition”, a section for films without institutional funding, “Reigen der Ziegen” (Goat dance) by Michael Sasdi will be presented, after it also participated in the international competition at Oberhausen. The event, which takes place in the northern city of Hamburg, is one of the three most important short film festivals in Germany, along with Oberhausen and Dresden. With its numerous competition sections and thoroughly selected films for its special programs, this festival plays an important role on the international festival calendar.
The successful soccer short film and Swiss-German co-production “Wir sind dir treu” (We are faithful to you) by Michael Koch will be shown in the “Made in Germany” competition. The 9-minute film about cheering on the fans of the Basel soccer club is currently touring a great number of festivals and is featured in German movie theatres as part of the short film series “Kurzpässe”, presented by the German short film distributor ahead of the World Cup.

In the “Flotter Dreier” competition for short films under three minutes, “Hara Kiri” by Gian Reto Mayer and “Mandolinenfieber” (Mandolin fever) by Kyros Kikos will be presented. Other thematic special programs feature “78 Tours” by Georges Schwizgebel (Production: Studio GDS, Geneva), and “Einspruch III/Objection III” by Roland Colla.

At the “Mo & Friese” Children’s Short Film Festival, which is dedicated entirely to children and is taking place in parallel to the short film event, the two contemporary animated films “Wolkenbruch” (Deluge) by Simon Eltz (Production: HGK Lucerne), and “Le génie de la boîte de raviolis” (The genie in the ravioli can) by Claude Barras (Production: Cinémagination, Fribourg) will be screened. Also shown at the children’s festival will be the film “Boliden” by Walter Feistle.
