First prize for short film “Poolside” in Grenoble

The 19-minute short film “Beckenrand/Poolside” by Michael Koch won first prize at the 4th edition of the “Nuit trop courte” International Student Film Festival in Grenoble on March 10, 2007. The “Boubakar” award comes with a prize sum of 800 Euro and was bestowed by a jury comprised of four French film professionals.
The film “Poolside”, which describes the relationship between a teenage group and a pool attendant, entered the competition along with 20 international short films. It was previously nominated for the 2007 Swiss Film Prize and screened in international competition at the Clermont-Ferrand short film festival. Director Michael Koch grew up in Basel and is currently studying at the Academy of Arts and the Media Cologne. Last year, he also received first prize at Grenoble for his film “Wir sind dir treu”, which has been shown at numerous international film festivals and received several awards.
