Né en 1959. Il est l'un des réalisateurs suisses les plus connus et les plus acclamés au niveau international. WAR PHOTOGRAPHER (2001) a été nommé dans la catégorie du meilleur documentaire lors de la 74e cérémonie des Oscars. THE GIANT BUDDHAS (2005), SPACE TOURISTS (2009) et GENESIS 2.0 (2018) ont été présentés en compétition au Festival du film de Sundance, où il a remporté le World Cinema Directing Award en 2010. Ses films sont humanistes et universels, autant que subtils et insistants.
