The Swiss and German film “When the Right One Comes Along” by Oliver Paulus and Stefan Hillebrand, which was shown in the “Zabaltegi” section for new talent at the San Sebastian International Film Festival, received an honorary mention on September 27 by the jury of the Altadis New Directors Award.
The jury’s justification applauded the film “for the courage of its commitment to the simplicity and magic of the characters with no apparent outstandingness”. The Altadis New Directors Award of 120,000 Euros went to the South-Korean film “Sa-Lin-Eui Chu-Eok“ (“Memories of Murder“) by Bong Joon-ho.
“When the Right One Comes Along” enjoyed great success with the audience in San Sebastian: For the “Premio da la Juventud”, an audience award, it was rated just below the favorites of this year’s event with an average of 4 out of 5 points. The Spanish press also gave much attention to the film which was largely based on improvisation and had been produced with a budget of only 400,000 Swiss Francs.
