22.08.2005
The 62nd Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica in Venice, taking place from August 31 to September 10, 2005, will present the Swiss short film “113” by Jason Brandenberg in the “CortoCortissimo” competition, which is one of the four official festival sections. Swiss painter and filmmaker Clemens Klopfenstein is a member of the international short film competition jury.
Brandenberg, who was born in the Unted States and now lives in Berne, Switzerland, features an old man searching for the memories of a strange encounter in the ruins of an old house. The voice of the man is performed by Kuno Lauener of the rock band Züri West.
Additionally, Switzerland will be represented with a minority co-production in the “Orizzonti Doc Prize.” In this section that features new talents, German Philipp Gröning’ movie “Into great silence” will be presented (co-produced by Ventura Film). Gröning spent several months in isolation at the “La Grande Chartreuse” monastery in order to document the life of the Karthaeuser monks whose daily routine include silence and seclusion from the everyday world.
