Three Swiss films win awards at Trento Film Festival

Two Swiss short films and a documentary feature won awards at the 57th Trento Film Festival (April 21-May 3, 2009): the 7-minute animation film “Die Seilbahn” by Claudius Gentinetta and Frank Braun was honoured with the Silver Gentian for Best Short Film, endowed with 1,500 euros; Eileen Hofer’s short fiction film “Racines” the Silver Gentian for Best Artistic Technical Contribution, also endowed with 1,500 euros. The documentary film “Grozny Dreaming” by Fulvio Marini and Mario Casella (Prod. Peacock Film, Zürich) won the Solidarity Prize.
The festival, which focuses all aspects of alpine culture, screened 43 films in this year’s competition, eight of which were Swiss film productions. The five-member jury of the 57th Trento Film Festival based ist decision to present the award to the film “Die Seilbahn” as follows: “A nice short cartoon film with one extraordinary character of a thousand resources. The jury was fascinated by the technical ability, imagination and humour of the filmmakers.“



The jury underscored ist decision for the film “Racines” as follows: “With limited technical means and probably a tight budget, the film director has made a touching story without artifices, creating with good technique, good editing and good film language, a very tender relationship between father and son.”



Last year, Stefan Schwietert’s documentary film “Heimatklänge” and Hicham Alhayat’s short film “Il neige à Marrakech” were honoured with awards in Trento.
