The short film “Tarte aux pommes” wins prize in Teheran

Tonight, the short animated film “Tarte aux pommes” by Isabelle Favez (Production: Swiss Effects, Zurich) receives the “Silver Prize For Second Best Film” at the closing ceremony of the 5th edition of the Teheran International Animation Festival (February 25 – March 1, 2007). Along with five additional Swiss films, the film by the young Bernese filmmaker took part in the international competition, which comprised 140 works from all over the world.
This is the fifth award for “Tarte aux pommes” since its premiere at the 2006 Solothurn Film Festival. The film, which tells the story of an unhappy romance between a woman baker and a butcher, has already been screened at 20 international film festivals.
Among the five-member jury in Teheran was Swiss director and film lecturer Otto Alder. The young film festival with an audience of approximately 50,000 has developed into one of the most important events in the Persian capital, and it attracts numerous representatives from the film industry in the Middle East (Lebanon, Syria, and Arab Emirates).
