Two triumphant fiction films by cineastes from Romandy and three internationally acclaimed coproductions will be screened at the 56th BFI London Film Festival, one of the most important film festivals in Great Britain.

Ursula Meier’s second film for the cinema “Sister” – Switzerland’s candidate for an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Film – and Manuel von Stürler’s documentary film debut “Hiver Nomade” – recently honoured with two awards in Namur – will both be screened at the 56th BFI London Film Festival (October 10-21, 2012). The festival has introduced three new competitions as well as thematic programmes this year. It ranks as one of the cinematographic beacons in Great Britain, together with the film festivals in Edinburgh and in Leeds.

Three Swiss coproductions will also be screened in London: Belgian director Joachim Lafosse’s fiction film “À perdre la raison” (coproduction: Box Productions, Lausanne), which won an award in Cannes; Italian director Leonardo Di Costanzo’s “L'intervallo” (coproduction: Amka Films, Savosa), which was honoured with seven prizes in Venice; and Iranian director Massoud Bakhshi’s “Une famille respectable – Yek khanévadéh-e Mohtaram” (coproduction: Akka Films, Geneva), which was screened in the Directors’ Fortnight section in Cannes.
