19.10.2006
The program of the 30th edition of the Mostra internacional de cinema in Sao Paolo, taking place from October 20 – November 2, 2006, will celebrate Swiss filmmaking. Five films from Switzerland have been invited to this year’s festival, which counts as one the most important film events in South America. "L'image à paroles“ by Michel Favre (Perceuse Productions Image, Genf) and “La vraie vie est ailleurs” by Frédéric Choffat (Rita productions, Geneva) will be part of the international “New Directors” competition along with approximately 100 films. In addition, three works will be presented in the “Perspective” section: “Vitus” by Fredi M. Murer (FMM & Hugofilm, Zurich), “Hedy Lamarr” by Donatello Dubini, Fosco Dubini, and Barbara Obermaier, as well as the Swiss co-produced film “Slumming” by the Austrian director Michael Glawogger (Co-production: Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich).
The invitation for “La vraie vie est ailleurs” for the international competition is confirming the international potential of this first long feature film by Geneva resident Frédéric Choffat. The film previously screened in Montreal and at the Locarno International Film Festival, and it will be shown in competition at the French Film Days in Tuebingen (German) in the beginning of November.
The documentary film about the famous actress “Hedy Lamarr” has already been invited to Madrid, Kiev, Krawow, Biarritz, and La Rochelle, while “Slumming” will be competing in Gand (Belgium) shortly, after its participation in the international competition in Berlin, its screening in Karlovy Vary, and its award winning appearance in Palic (Serbia). With a showing at this event, the film “Vitus” is continuing its successful festival tour.
