Swiss Films in Kassel

Swiss filmmaking is represented with 10 films at the 22nd Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival taking place from November 8-13, 2005. Participating are “Feline Masquerade” by Veronika Minder (Production: Cobra Film, Zurich) and additional documentary films that have had theatrical distribution: “Building the Gherkin” by Mirjam von Arx, “Opernfieber” (Opera fever) by Katharina Rupp (Production: maximage, Zurich), and “Coca –The Dove from Chechnya – Europe In Denial Of A War” by Eric Bergkraut (Production: Doc Productions, Zurich).
The Kassel festival features a broad spectrum from classic documentaries to new media; medium-length films will be shown such as “Ageing not Greying” by Marie-Jeanne Urech (Production: Productions Françoise Rapin, Lausanne) and “Détour par Calcutta” by François Rossier, along with short documentaries such as “Wir sind dir treu” (We will be faithful to you) by Michael Koch and “nach dem fall…” (after the fall) by Marcel Wyss. In the short feature films program are “Fussballfieber” (soccer fever) by Chris Neimeyer and “Defensiver Mittelfeldmann” (central defender) by Kyros Kikos.
Mirjam von Arx, François Rossier, Katharina Rupp, Marie-Jeanne Urech, Kyros Kikos, Marcel Wyss, and Michael Koch are each introducing their films in Kassel. Gabriela Bussmann, co-director of the film festival Visions du Réel in Nyon is a member of the jury which will bestow the “Golden Key” for best documentary new talent with a prize sum of 2,500 Euro.
