Swiss cinematographer Peter Indergand was honoured with the “Best Photography Award” for his work in the film “Space Tourists” by Christian Frei at the 3rd Beldocs International Documentary Film Festival in Belgrade (April 13-20, 2010). Eighteen films were in the running for the awards in the categories of Best Film and Best Photography in the international competition.
The jury’s statement praised the cinematography with, ”the brilliant camera work showing us a parallel world rarely seen”. With its impressive images, the film portrays the adventure of astronautics in the age of space tourism. Director Christian Frei and the 53-year-old cinematographer Peter Indergand had already worked together in the films “Ricardo, Miriam y Fidel” (1997), “War Photographer” (2001) and “The Giant Buddhas” (2005). The film “Space Tourist” was honoured with the “World Cinema Directing Award” in Sundance in January and the Eurodok Award in Oslo in March.
There were three films from Switzerland among those screened in the competition in Belgrade: aside from “Space Tourists”, the film “God No Say So” by Brigitte Uttar Kornetzy and “Die Frau mit den 5 Elefanten” by Vadim Jendreyko.
