Strong Swiss presence at festivals in New York and San Francisco

At the 6th Tribeca Film Festival, taking place from April 25 – May 6, 2007 in New York, the two internationally most successful Swiss films of the past year, “Das Fräulein” by Andrea Staka (Prod. Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich) and “Vitus” by Fredi M. Murer, will be shown. “Vitus” (Prod. Hugofilm, Zurich), which is launched in American theatres by the rental company Sony Classics, will also be shown in the program of the 50th San Francisco International Film Festival ( April 26 – May 10, 2007)
The audience’s festival on the West coast, which has a long tradition, will additionally be showing the two Swiss-French co-productions „Pas douce” by Jeanne Waltz (Coprod. Thelma Films, Zurich) and “Ça brûle” by Claire Simon (Coprod. Vega Film, Zurich) in the section “New Directors” which is dedicated to young talents. The films by foreign directors, co produced with Swiss companies, “Juventude em marcha” by Pedro Costa (Coprod. Ventura Film, Meride) and “Slumming” by Michael Glawogger (Coprod. Dschoint Ventschr) complete the strong Swiss presence in San Francisco.
