Ursula Meier’s film “Sister,” a Swiss-French coproduction (Vega Film, Zurich), is on the selection list of films in the running for a nomination for the European Film Awards 2012. This was announced by the European Film Academy (EFA) on September 11. During the next two months, the 2,700 members of the European Film Academy will vote for the nominations in eight different categories (Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenwriter, Best Cinematographer, Best Editor, Best Production Designer) will be announced at the Seville European Film Festival on November 3. The award ceremony will take place in Malta on December 1.

The film, which won a Silver Bear at the Berlinale, already has cinema distributors in 14 European Union countries. The European MEDIA Programme has supported the cinematic release of “Sister” with subsidies to distributors amounting to EUR 331,100.
