The film “Sauvage” by Jean-François Amiguet will be screened in competition and thus celebrate its international premiere at the 34th Cairo International Film Festival (November 30 - December 9, 2010). Jean-Luc Bideau, the leading actor in the film, will travel together with the producer of the film, Pierre-André Thiébaud (PCT Cinéma et Télévision, Martigny), to the Egyptian capital city to present the film to the audience. Three further film productions mark the strong Swiss presence at the most important film festival in North Africa.

"Sauvage" is the fourth feature film by the Valais-based filmmaker Jean-François Amiguet ("Au sud des nuages" 2003; "L'écrivain public" 1993; "La méridienne" 1988). The film tells the story of the relationship between a young, rebellious city girl and a misanthrope, set in a remote alpine valley. The Swiss-French-Belgian coproduction, featuring Jean-Luc Bideau and the young French actress Clémentine Beaugrand in the leading roles, has been showing in cinemas in the French-speaking region of Switzerland since the end of October (distributor: Pathé).

Jean-Luc Bideau also had a cameo role in the comedy film "Opération Casablanca" (Operation Casablanca), the second feature-length film by Genevese director Laurent Nègre. The film will be screened for the first time in Cairo. Two films round off the Swiss presence at the film festival in Cairo: the family drama "Songs Of Love And Hate" by Katalin Gödrös; and the romantic comedy "Madly In Love" by Anna Luif. The festival is ranks among the A-category festivals.
