Six films from Switzerland will be competing at the 33rd Festival International du Court Métrage in Clermont Ferrand (4 to 12 February 2011), the world’s largest event for short films. With a total of 13 productions in the programme, the Swiss participation will beat all previous records and will establish Switzerland as one of the most productive countries for the making of short films. No less than 130 Swiss short films have registered for the film market which will be held parallel to the festival.

The four Swiss short films to be presented in the main competition are "Yuri Lennon's Landing on Alpha 46" by Anthony Vouardoux, which has received several international awards and has been nominated for the "Quartz 2011", the festival hit "Ich bin's Helmut" by Nicolas Steiner, the film "Kwa Heri Mandima" by the Lausanne ECAL student Robert-Jan Lacombe, winner of the Pardino d'Oro in Locarno 2010, as well as the Italian-language film "Traiettorie invisibili" by Luc Walpoth. Competing in the "Labo" - reserved for particularly venturesome and original works - is the cartoon film "Schlaf" by Claudius Gentinetta and Frank Braun, which has been nominated for the "Quartz 2011", as well as the film "Man in A Room" by the Mexican Rafael Palacio Illingworth, produced by Eleonore Meier from Switzerland.

A further seven Swiss films can be seen in various theme programmes and retrospectives, for example the cartoon "Der grosse Bruder" by Jésus Pérez and Elisabeth Hüttermann in the children's programme, "Auf der Strecke" by Reto Caffi in the programme "20 years of the Academy of Media Arts Cologne", a winner at Clermont-Ferrand in 2009 and nominee for the Oscar as best short film, as well as the film "Wir sind Dir treu" by Michael Koch, winner of the Prix Canal+ in 2006, in the anniversary programme of the "Labo" competition.

Representatives of all films in the competition will be present in Clermont-Ferrand. The promotional agency SWISS FILMS will have an information stand in the market at which some 3,000 film professionals are accredited. With more than 130,000 visitors, the Clermont-Ferrand event is the second-largest festival in France.
