09.10.2007
The Swiss film “Heimatklänge” by Stefan Schwietert (Production: Maximage, Zurich), which took home two awards at the 2007 Berlinale, has been nominated for the 2007 European Film Prize in the category for “Prix Arte – Best European Documentary Film”. For this award only ten films are selected by an expert commission of the European Film Academy. Unlike in other EFA categories, this prize is not determined by members of the academy but by a three-member jury.
“Heimatklänge” explores the miraculous musical world of three exceptional Swiss voice-artists. In Berlin, it was bestowed with the CICAE prize of the International Association for Arthouse Cinemas as well as with the “Tagesspiegel” Readers’ Award. The film further received the audience prize at the “Visions du réel” festival in Nyon. “Heimatklänge” will be released in German-speaking cinemas on October 18 (Distribution: Look Now!).
The “Prix Arte – Best European Documentary Film” jury is comprised of Francine Brücher, who is in charge of international promotions with SWISS FILMS, David Fisher, director general of “The New Israeli Film Foundation”, and the German director and producer Philip Gröning. The award ceremony will take place in Berlin on December 1, 2007.
