“Gambling, Gods and LSD” wins GENIE award in Toronto

The film “Gambling, Gods and LSD” by the Swiss-Canadian director Peter Mettler won the 2003 GENIE Award on February 13 in Toronto, Canada, in the category of “Best Documentary Film”. In January of 2003, it was named one of the “Top Ten of Canadian Films of 2002”. Currently, it is shown in Canadian cinemas with great success (Distributor: Odeon Film), and it will be arriving in movie theatres in Germany (Distributor GM Films) and Austria (Distributor: Polyfilm Verleih) this year.
The three-hour waking dream continues to receive considerable attention at festivals around the world: in the beginning of March of 2003, it will participate at the 5th International Documentary Film Festival in Thessaloniki, Greece. Last year, “Gambling, Gods and LSD” received the Grand Prix and the Prix du Jeune Public at the Nyon Documentary Film Festival "Visions du Réel", as well as the 3-sat Documentary Film Prize at the Duisburg Film Week. It was shown at festivals in Montreal, Rotterdam, Saarbruecken, and Vancouver, among others.
