Eurodok Award for the documentary film “Space Tourists” in Oslo

The cinema documentary “Space Tourists” by Christian Frei won the Eurodok Award at the European Documentary Film Festival in Oslo (17 to 21 March 2010). The prize is endowed with 20,000 Norwegian Crowns (approx. 3,700 CHF) and is intended for the DVD launch of the film in Norway. Christian Frei received the same award in 2003 for his film “War Photographer”. In addition, the short film “Signalis” by Adrian Flückiger (Lucerne University of Design & Art) was awarded the public prize in the student film competition at the 10th Cartoon Film Festival “Mostra” in Lisbon (11 to 21 March).
The prize awarded to “Space Tourists” in Oslo by a three-man jury of experts is sponsored by the Norwegian Film Institute which also organises the event devoted to the making of documentary films. “Space Tourists” was one of ten films taking part in the competition. Following its premiere at the Zurich Film Festival in October 2009, “Space Tourists”, which deals with the conquering of space and space tourism, competed at the international documentary film festival in Amsterdam and won the prestigious World Cinema Directing Award at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City.
The film will be showing at more than 25 international festivals over the coming months. The premiere in German cinemas will be on 15 July 2010 (distribution: Kool Filmdistribution).
