Christian Frei and Pippilotti Rist in Sundance

Christian Frei’s documentary film “Space Tourists” is in the running for the Grand Jury Prize at the 26th Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah (January 21-31, 2010). Swiss artist Pippilotti Rist was invited to Sundance with her film “Pepperminta” in the New Frontier section. The film festival, founded by actor and director Robert Redford in 1981, is a forum for independent film productions and ranks among the most important international film festivals, together with Cannes, Berlin and Venice
Christian Frei was already in Sundance with “The Giant Buddhas” in 2006. Following its world premiere in the Joris Ivens Competition at the International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam, “Space Tourists” now receives yet another tribute on the prestigious Sundance stage. Responsible for the film’s world distribution rights is Jan Rofekamp from Films Transit International in Canada.
Pipilotti Rist will present her first film for the cinema in Sundance, “Pepperminta”, which premiered in Venice, as well as her “Lobe of the Lung” video installation (2009).
Switzerland has not been present in Sundance since 2007. At that time, wurde Andrea Staka’s “Das Fräulein” was screened in the Spectrum section.
