“Best European Film” award for “Mon frère se marie” in Spain

At the New European Film Festival NFF, which took place until May 12th in the Basque capital Vitoria-Gasteiz, the feature film debut “Mon frère se marie/ My Brother Is Getting Married” (Box Productions, Renens) by Swiss director Jean-Stéphane Bron took home the “Best European Film” award ex aequo with the German film “Valerie” by Birgit Möller. The award comes with a prize sum of 9,000 Euro which supports the film’s distribution in Spain.
The film “Mon frère se marie/ My Brother Is Getting Married” has already received numerous awards. It portrays the comical and touching situation of an adoptive family in the Swiss western region of the Romandie whose members attempt to come together in harmony for the visit of the mother of their Vietnamese foster child Vinh. The award of this young European-focused festival will allow for the film to be shown on Spanish movie screens after it already was presented in movie theatres in France.
