Two Swiss film productions won awards at the 24th Festival “Premiers Plans” in Angers, France (January 20-29. 2012): the three leading actresses in the fiction film “Abrir puertas y ventanas” – Maria Canale, Ailin Salas and Martina Juncadella – were honoured with the Best Actress “Mademoiselle Ladubay” Prize, endowed with EUR 1,500. The Grand Jury Prize of European Student Films went to Jan Czarlewski’s short film production “L’Ambassadeur et moi,” thereby qualifying this 15-minute documentary film for a nomination for the European Film Award 2012.

"L'Ambassadeur et moi" won the Pardino d'Oro for the Best Swiss Short Film in Locarno last summer. In the film, the 23-year-old director Jan Czarlewski, who shot the film in conjunction with his studies at the ECAL in Lausanne, tries to make up for lost time with his father, the phenomenal and plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Belgian Crown.

The fiction film "Abrir puertas y ventanas" by Swiss-Argentine director Milagros Mumenthaler also celebrated its premiere at the Locarno International Film Festival and was honoured there with two awards. It has since been screened and won awards at more than 15 film festivals. It is currently being shown at the 41st International Film Festival Rotterdam, one of the leading festivals for discovering talented newcomers.
