12.05.2009
The five-minute Swiss animation film “Tôt ou tard” by Jadwiga Kowalska is one of nine films chosen for the 3rd edition of the “Short Film Golden Nights”. The nine films were selected by the French Film Academy, which presents the César Award, the national film award of France. The programme will be screened in thirteen cities in France from May 7 to July 13, 2009, in six European metropolises and in Geneva on May 13.
“Tôt ou tard” was in the running for the prestigious selection because it was awarded the Swiss Film Prize QUARTZ 2009 for Best Animation Film in Lucerne. The film, featuring computer-assisted animation of paper figures, has already been screened at over 40 international film festivals and honoured with 18 awards. The film productions screened in conjunction with the “Short Film Golden Nights” are all winners of various film awards from all over the world. This year marks the second time that the tour will also make a stop in Geneva. For the first time this year, the audience will select ist favourite among the nine films. Last year Reto Caffi’s short film “Auf der Strecke”, which was nominated for an Oscar, was the Swiss film production participating in the tour.
