When Yehudi Menuhin, one of the 20th Century’s greatest violinists, moved his family to Gstaad in the 1950s, the world famous Menuhin Festival of Music was born. Artists and colleagues arrived from all over the world, resulting in legendary musical encounters such as one between Menuhin and composer Benjamin Britten. The film’s illustrious contributors include Menuhin’s pupils such as world famous violinists Nigel Kennedy and Alberty Lysy, as well as Menuhin’s own children, who tell of a not always easy relationship with their father. Hereto unseen archive concert footage completes this fascinating documentary about the world citizen and humanist who died in 1999.
