When Mr. Jucker the bank manager speaks of feeling threatened, Detective Superintendents von Burg and Gertsch pay little attention. After all, it’s a full moon and they’re used to getting calls from all sorts of crackpots. Just two hours later when they are summoned to a bank the two detectives find Jucker lying dead in the car park, next to a seriously wounded man. Finding himself menaced by two strange men, forgetting all the rules he reached for his gun and fired. A clue leads the detectives to a group known as “Body and Life” in the Bernese Oberland, where between unsuspecting cows and inscrutable dairymen, there is a showdown, and the investigators discover a new kind of money laundering.
