Nine-year-old Mari is a dreamer, likes to sit in treetops and wishes the school would burst into flames. She seems to be able to see behind the facades of the people around her. Some adults don't appreciate that at all. After a visit to the child psychiatrist, Mari's mother Eliane comes under pressure and the demands of the system: should she clip Mari's wings back or support her daughter to go her own way and develop into a beautiful butterfly? A tribute to the imagination and to all brave people.

Mari, nove anni, è una sognatrice, le piace sedersi sulle cime degli alberi e desidera che la scuola prenda fuoco. Sembra essere in grado di vedere dietro le facciate delle persone che la circondano. Alcuni adulti non lo apprezzano affatto. Dopo una visita dallo psichiatra infantile, la madre di Mari, ELIANE (40 anni), è sottoposta alla pressione e alle richieste del sistema: deve tarpare le ali a Mari o sostenere sua figlia a seguire la sua strada e diventare una bella farfalla? Mariposa è un omaggio all'immaginazione e a tutte le persone coraggiose.
