Pietro is a worker who lives on the margins of society in a small provincial town. After his work on a construction site, he transforms himself into a poet, dreaming of a better world, while a war approaches and torments him. On the day he must decide whether to desert, he visits his sister Lisa, a nurse in a clinic whom he has not seen for years, and discreetly slips his writings into her pocket. The film is inspired by a short story by Swiss writer Robert Walser.
Pietro è un operaio che vive ai margini della società in una piccola città di provincia. Dopo il lavoro in cantiere, si trasforma in poeta, sognando un mondo migliore, mentre l'ombra di una guerra incombe e lo tormenta. Il giorno in cui deve decidere se disertare, va a trovare sua sorella Lisa, infermiera in una clinica, che non vede da anni, e di nascosto le lascia nella tasca i suoi scritti. Il film è ispirato a un racconto dello scrittore svizzero Robert Walser.
