Mirjana Karanović
Actor, Director, Screenwriter
A Serbian actress, she is known for many acclaimed roles in the films of the former Yugoslavia. She made her debut in Srdjan Karanovic's film PETRIJIN VENAC (1982). She gained world fame with the role of Mother in Kusturica's WHEN FATHER WAS AWAY ON BUSINESS (1985). One of her more significant roles was the role of Esma in the film GRABAVICA: THE LAND OF MY DREAMS(2006) by Jasmila Žbanic, winner of a Golden Bear. Her directorial debut was with A GOOD WIFE (2016) at the prestigious Sundance festival, which went on to screen at over forty festivals. Her second feature MOTHER MARA (2024) is currently in post-production.
