Born in 1983 in Singen, Germany. An award-winning director and screenwriter known for her films that explore complex women‘s issues. She received an Academy Award® nomination in 2022 for her short film ALA KACHUU – TAKE AND RUN. Maria holds a Bachelor in Film from ZHdK (Zurich University of the Arts) and a Master Cognitive Neuroscience from the AON (Academy of Neuroscience) in Cologne. She is also a graduate of the Drehbuchwerkstatt Munich screenwriting programme. Her films that tackle challenging social topics have garnered widespread critical acclaim, earning her numerous awards and honours at top international film festivals. FRIEDAS FALL (2024) is her first feature film.
