“Zeit des Abschieds” wins two main prizes in Belfort

At the 21st International Film Festival “Entre Vues” in Belfort, which ended on December 3, 2006, the Swiss film “Zeit des Abschieds” (translated: Time to say good-bye) by Mehdi Sahebi (Production: Cineworx, Basel) won the Grand Jury prize in the documentary film category with a prize sum of 4,000 Euro, as well as the audience award with a prize sum of 3,000 Euro. Iranian director Mehdi Sahebi, who resides in Switzerland, was in attendance in Belfort and accepted the prizes on December 2.
In the 63-minute-long film, the director accompanies to his death the 44-year-old Giuseppe Tommasi, an HIV-infected cancer patient who uses the last months of his life to deal relentlessly with his addiction and to find peace with himself and those around him.
Founded in 1986 by Janine Bazin, the festival “Entre Vues” puts new talents (first, second, and third time films) into the limelight, and counts among the most important French film festivals. Under its new director, Catherine Bizem, it has developed a special focus on documentary film.
