Workshow “Gisèle & Nag Ansorge” at the Centre Pompidou, Paris
23.10.2006
As part of the 5th World Animation Day on October 28, 2006, the Centre Georges Pompidou library has designated four evenings to the “Masters of Powder”, beginning October 25, 2006. The work by Gisèle und Ernest (Nag) Ansorge, who count as the pioneers of animated sand, will open the series. The event receives support from the promotion institution SWISS FILMS.
With the introduction of animated filmmakers Gisèle & Nag Ansorge, two artists will be presented who are among the few who create their films by manipulating particles (sand, salt, and coffee) under the camera. Titled “Gisèle & Nag Ansorge, pris dans les sables mouvants”, the Parisian audience will be able to view ten films by the Western Swiss couple, who worked passionately in this style since the 1960s and until the Gisèle death in 1993.
“H.L.M Quiproquo”, the most recent animated film by Nag Ansorge (co-directed by Dominique Delachaux-Lambert), will be presented with the 81-year-old Nag Ansorge in attendance. After the screening, the artists will perform a live sand animation.
The International Animated Film Association (ASIFA) launched the World Animation Day in 2002, which is taking place worldwide on October 28. Throughout France, a two-week “Animated Film Fest” will be taking place with more than 250 events planned.
