«Vitus» in the running for European Film Prize

Fredi M. Murer’s prodigy child-drama «Vitus», featuring actor Bruno Ganz, has been selected to compete for the 2006 European Film Prize. The film is among 49 European productions that will be presented for nomination to 1,700 members of the European Film Academy (EFA). With «Juventude em marcha» by Pedro Costa (Portugal/France/Switzerland), and «Spiele Leben/You Bet Your Life» by Antonin Svoboda (Austria/Switzerland), two additional Swiss co-productions will be among the films eligible for nomination.
The EFA members will view the selected works over the next few weeks and nominate films for the following prize categories: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Script, and Best Camera, Best Art Direction, and Best Editing. In the beginning of November, the nominations will be announced at the European Film Festival in Sevilla (November 3-11, 2006). The award ceremony will take place in Warsaw on December 2, 2006.
