The film is a coproduction between Vega Film in Zurich and Archipel 35 Film in France. It has been showing on screens in France under the original title “L’enfant d’en haut” since April 18: in 21 cinemas in Paris and 71 cinemas throughout all of France. The daily newspaper “Le Monde” devoted a full-page article with the heading “A black sheep in white snow,” describing it as a “successful parable” about the stark contrast in realities in Switzerland. In French-speaking Switzerland, some 27,500 viewers have already seen “L’enfant d’en haut,” launched by the Swiss distribution firm Filmcoopi on April 4. The film’s theatrical release in German-speaking Switzerland is scheduled for April 26.
Parallel to the premiere in German-speaking Switzerland, “Sister” will be released in cinemas next week in Belgium and in Brazil, and thereafter in Italy on May 11. It will be launched in Germany, Greece, Great Britain, Croatia, Norway, Austria, Portugal, Sweden, Slovenia, Spain and Hungary in the second half of the year. Theatrical releases in Denmark, Israel, North America, Australia and Korea are also being planned. “Sister” has already been invited to twelve film festivals on four continents.
