24.03.2009
Ursula Meier’s fiction film debut “Home” (Box Productions, Lausanne) will be screened at the 38th edition of the renowned New Directors / New Films Festival in New York, which runs from March 25-April 5, 2009. The director, who was honoured with the Quartz 2009 for “Best Fiction Film” and “Best Screenplay”, will present her film in New York – accompanied by the young Kacey Mottet Klein, winner of the Swiss Film Prize in the category of “Best Emerging Actor or Actress”.
The New Directors / New Films Festival – organized by the Film and Media Department of The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) – focuses entirely on emerging filmmaking talent (first and second films). “Home” is among the 25 long-playing fiction films from all over the world that will be presented at the festival, which is highly regarded by New York’s film critics. Already two years ago, another film by a director from the French-speaking region of Switzerland was screened at the festival: “Comme des voleurs” by Lionel Baier. Both Baier and Meier rank among the beacons of hope of Swiss film productions.
