With "Einspruch VI", Rolando Colla presents his sixth film "protesting" violations of human rights. The film is told from the perspective of an asylum-seeker whose rejected application ultimately leads to a tragic deportation. In the film "Retour à Mandima" Robert-Jan Lacombe, a graduate from the ECAL film school in Lausanne, continues the reflections he had begun in his previous short film "Kwa Heri Mandima," which was honoured with a "Pardino d'Oro" in Locarno. The film elucidates the director's relationship to his birthplace in northeast Zaire, which he left 15 years ago.
The French-Swiss coproduction "Le ciel en bataille" by Rachid B. will be screened in the National Competition, with two further Swiss film productions in parallel festival sections: Anthony Vouardoux's "Yuri Lennon's Landing on Alpha 46," which won the "Quartz 2011" for Best Short Film and already won an award last year in Clermont-Ferrand; and the animation film "Julia und der Schrecken" by Anja Sidler.
The directors of the selected works will present their films personally in Clermont-Ferrand. SWISS FILMS, the promotion agency, will be present with a stand at the film market which attracts some 3,000 accredited film professionals. With nearly 150,000 viewers, the film festival in Clermont-Ferrand is the second largest in France.
