Two Swiss documentary films at the Duisburg Film Festival
30.10.2009
Two Swiss documentary films will be screened at the 33rd Duisburg Film Festival (November 2-8, 2009): “Die Frau mit den 5 Elefanten” by Vadim Jendreyko and “sounds and silence – unterwegs mit Manfred Eicher” by Peter Guyer and Norbert Wiedmer. Ample space for a dialogue between filmmakers and the audience is a unique highlight of the festival.
The focus of this year’s Duisburg Film Festival is on the debate concerning the reception of reality in current German-speaking documentary filmmaking. This year’s programme comprises 26 films from Germany, Austria and Switzerland devoted to “the current state of affairs”.
Last year Swiss director Constantin Wulff was honoured with an award in Duisburg for his documentary film “In die Welt” (produced in Austria); in 2007 Thomas Haemmerli won the Audience Prize for “Sieben Mulden und eine Leiche”.
