«Tout un hiver sans feu» in the run for European Film Prize nomination
15.09.2005
On September 15, 2005, the European Film Academy (EFA) announced the selection list for this year’s European Film Prize. Forty-six European films, among them “One Long Winter Without Fire” by Greg Zglinksi (CAB Productions, Lausanne), are eligible for nomination into nine different categories. 1,600 members of the European Film Academy will complete the selection process within the next few weeks. Claudia Lorenz’ short film “Hi Maya”, which received the UIP award in Berlin, is already among the nominees for the European Short Film Prize.
For the first time, members of the European Film Academy have been invited to actively participate in the selection process: One film from countries with the highest number of members was directly voted in to the competition – including Switzerland with 29 members. All other films were nominated by a committee consisting of EFA officers and invited experts.
The 1,600 EFA members will view the selected works over the next few weeks and nominate films for the following prize categories: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Script, and Best Camera. Beginning in 2005, prizes for Best Art Direction and Best Editing will also be awarded. The nominations will be announced at the European Film Festival in Sevilla (November 4-12, 2005).
The winners in the 8 main categories along with the UIP Short Film Prize are also determined by the EFA members. Additional prizes in different disciplines will be given by respective juries. The bestowal of the European Film Prize and the announcement of all the winners, will take place in Berlin on December 3.
