Julia Furer as outstanding talent in the Future Frames programme
At the suggestion of SWISS FILMS, the young film director Julia Furer has been selected to participate as one of the ten promising European filmmakers in the FUTURE FRAMES – Ten Filmmakers to Follow programme, organised in cooperation with European Film Promotion EFP. She will present her graduation film “Julian”, produced at the Lucerne School of Art and Design, in Karlovy Vary. The 20-minute documentary film garnered awards at the Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur and at the “Schweizer Jugendfilmtage”.
During the KVIFF, the emerging talents have the opportunity to present their films personally and to make valuable contacts in the international film industry. This year the Oscar-nominee Belgian film director Felix van Groeningen (“The Broken Circle Breakdown”) will accompany the participants as a mentor. EFP offers its members a number of prestigious programmes for showcasing talent and for networking, such as Shooting Stars (Berlinale), Producers on the Move (Cannes), Opening Doors (Busan) and Producer’s Lab (Toronto), for each of which SWISS FILMS also nominates its promising talents.
