Swiss short films at Anima International Film Festival in Brussels

Four Swiss animation films will be screened in Brussels at the 28th Anima, the International Animation Festival (February 20-28, 2009). Two Swiss animation films are among the approximately 200 films selected to run in the international competition: “Mustavuori 101” by the Finnish brothers Robert and Rikard Lassenius (Belle Journée Productions, Lutry); and “FC Murmeli” by Jochen Ehmann and Dustin Rees (Das Kollektiv, Zurich). These two films are in the running for the Grand Prix Anima, amounting to 3,000 euros.
Two further Swiss short films will be screened in the Anima programme: “Die Seilbahn” by Claudius Gentinetta and Frank Braun (nominated for the Swiss Film Prize QUARTZ 2009 in the category of Best Animation Film) will be screened at “La Nuit animée” special event, in which the film “haaf and me, in: swing beijing” by Oliver Aemisegger (Lucerne School of Art and Design) will also be presented.
The festival ranks among the most important European events for animation films. It is one of the nine partner festivals which has awarded the Cartoon d’Or “Best European Animation Film” since 1991.
