Swiss short film “Pas de deux” nominated for Students-Oscar

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Beverly Hills, California, nominated the Swiss short film “Pas de deux” by Zurich filmmaker Lawrence Grimm for the “2004 Student Oscar” (Category: Best Foreign Student Film). “Pas de deux”, a final thesis film for the School of Art & Design, Zurich, has been shown at numerous festivals both in Switzerland and abroad. Five out of 39 films made it to the final round, among them productions from Germany, Denmark, Switzerland as well as two from Russia. The winning prize in this category will be awarded on June 13, 2004, and it goes to Danish filmmaker Laurits Munch-Petersen for his movie “Between Us”.
Known as the “Student Oscar”, the Student Academy Awards are given every year in June and consist of five categories. In 2001, Swiss national Michael Schaerer won an Oscar for his short film “Warmth” in the category of “Alternative Fiction”.
