Swiss presence in Rotterdam

At the 36th International Film Festival Rotterdam, taking place from January 24 – February 4, 2007, four long and three short Swiss films and co-productions will be shown. The film “Fraulein” by Andrea Staka (Production: Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich), which has been nominated for the 2007 Swiss Film Prize, will be screened in the “Cinema of the Future: Sturm und Drang” section, while “La mémoire des autres” by Pilar Anguita-MacKay (Production: Olympia Films, Zurich) will be part of the “Time and Tide” program. The four-minute short film “Sympathy” by Dustin Rees (Production: Lucerne School of Art and Design) will be shown in the “Short: as long as it takes” section, and it also participates in the UIP-competition, whose winner will automatically be nominated for the 2007 European Film Prize.
Two additional films – “Turn” by Christina Benz and “Downhill Skiing in Summer” by Daniel Zimmermann – will also be presented in the “As long as it takes” short film section. In the “Time and Tide” section, “Ça brûle” by Claire Simon (Co-production: Vega Film, Zurich) will be screened, while in the “Maestros: Kings and Aces” program, the film “Colossal Youth” by Pedro Costa (Co-production: Ventura Film, Meride), will be shown. These two films, which were co-produced by Swiss companies, both celebrated their premiere in Cannes in 2006.
Known for its spirit of discovery, the Rotterdam film festival also organizes the project market “Cinemart”, where the film project “Pepperminta” by Pipilotti Rist, developed by Zurich company Hugofilm, will be presented to an audience of international professionals.
